I expected this weekend to be very busy, but it seemed long and relaxing, even though I worked on Saturday. Friday, Owen and I spent the afternoon at our favorite park. Saturday I came home from work to find an empty house--Christian had taken Owen out to a friend's house. I had 5 hours to myself, time to tear paper, make gelatin, do a little proofing. I have to say, it felt strange and I realized that until then, I hadn't been alone in the house for more than 30 minutes since Owen was born! Saturday night I went to a girls' night out with some women from Christian's work, which was really fun. Sunday we were supposed to do a lot of yard work, but we had barely started when it started pouring, so we went back inside and enjoy a lazy Sunday. We watched Juno, which was adorable. I also did a little printing, and here are some more gelatin monotypes of trees.

Dealing with color in this way is sort of new for me, and I'm figuring it out as I go. The color "mixing" happens through transparent layers. It reminds me of dying Easter eggs.

The one below is in progress. It's a ghost print (printed from the ink that's left over after the first fully inked print), and I'm excited about all the detail and ink variation that came out.

I feel like I could continue working with the same tree stencils with endless variation, but I decided to make some more in different sizes for future prints, that way my prints don't have to stay the same scale.

Oh, I love the dark one. These are really great. I have a tree project bouncing around in the back of my mind and your recent tree prints have gotten me excited about working on it again. 8-]
Hey! You're really doing a lot of nice work! The spider series is particularly interesting. And I love the different colors you've used in the tree prints!
